Every single desktop or notebook or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program that interacts with the computer hardware, including peripheral devices such as a mouse or a printer, and any apps that are currently installed on your system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a web server, each application runs within the parameters defined by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This is valid for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software like a media server. When a virtual server is set up on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, so you will be able to set up a different software environment on the very same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

Our VPS server solutions come with three Linux distributions which you could choose from for the Operating System of your new server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. In addition to being totally free, the OSs are very stable and protected and the reason to offer you all three of them is to ensure that you can run every app that you would like, since different pieces of software may have different requirements for the environment they can be used on. Each of the three OSs is supported by a huge community of web developers who have developed a large number of software packages which you can set up and use on your VPS. Based on the Operating System which you pick, you will also be able to select between 3 different Control Panels to control your website hosting content. Of course, in case you decide that you need another OS, we could always re-install the server with it. As a paid upgrade, we also provide weekly updates of the OS for max stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

If you decide to obtain one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the order page since we want to give you a larger choice with regard to the system environment on the server as different apps could have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian come with different modules developed by their huge support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and enjoy a stable and risk-free web hosting service. Depending on your choice, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you've selected at first does not meet the requirements of the software that you intend to run. We can also upgrade the OS routinely in order to keep it as risk-free as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
