Any time you add a domain as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that specific company. On their end, three records are created automatically as soon as the Internet domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the domain name where its site is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they indicate the server that deals with the emails for that specific domain address. The website and the email hosting are usually thought to be one thing, while they're in fact two different services. Having separate records for them will allow you to have them with different companies if you'd like. For instance, some new provider might have excellent uptime for your website, but you might not want to switch your emails from your current host and by employing an A record to point the Internet domain to the first and MX records to have the emails with the second, you could get the best of both companies. These records are checked when you wish to open a website or send an e-mail - in any case, the service provider whose name servers are used for the domain address is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you've set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you will see the needed website or your e-mail is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

If you have a cloud service from our company, you're going to be able to see, set up and change any A or MX record for your domains. As long as a specific domain name has our Name Servers, you will be able to change specific records by using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your website or emails pointed to any other service provider if you would like to use only one of our services. Our state-of-the-art tool will permit you to have a domain address hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted somewhere else by modifying only its A record - this will not affect the main domain address in any way. If you want to use the e-mail services of another service provider and they want you to create more than 2 MX records, you can easily do this with just a couple of clicks within the DNS Records section of your CP. Also you can set different latency for each MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

With the Linux semi-dedicated servers that we offer, you are going to have 100 % control over the records of all domain names and subdomains which you add in your hosting account. You can easily check what A and MX records every one of them has using the DNS Records section of the Hepsia hosting CP and changing any record takes just a few clicks. If you choose to switch your web or e-mail hosting provider, you can edit the necessary record and direct your domain to the other company for one of the services, while you still keep using the other one through us. Also you can keep the main domain here, while you modify the A record of only one of its subdomains. In case you are modifying the MX records and you need additional ones on top of the default 2 that we have, you can create them with ease and set a different priority for every single one.
