SSH, or Secure Shell, is a network protocol employed to connect to a server and carry out different tasks using a command line. The protocol is preferred by many knowledgeable users, for the reason that the info transmitted over it is encrypted, so it can't be intercepted on the way by a third party. SSH access can be employed for a number of things with regards to the type of hosting account. With a shared hosting account, for instance, SSH is one of the ways to import/export a database or to upload a file if the server allows for it. When you have a virtual or a dedicated server, SSH may be used for virtually everything - you can install software or restart specific services such as the web server or the database server which run on the machine. SSH is employed largely with UNIX-like Platforms, but there are clients which allow you to use the protocol if your PC is using a different Operating System too. The connection is made on TCP port 22 by default and the remote web server always listens for incoming connections on that port although a number of service providers change it for security reasons.

You may select the password which you shall use and, if required, you shall be able to modify it with a few clicks from the same spot. All the commands that may be used with our shared packages are listed in a help article together with relevant instances. If the SSH access function is permitted for your account, you will also be able to upload files through your preferred FTP client via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers

All our semi-dedicated server accounts offer the possibility to access and handle them using SSH. If the package deal that you have selected comes with this feature by default, you just need to allow the SSH access function through the corresponding section of the Hepsia Control Panel. If the function is listed as an additional upgrade, you could quickly add it through the Add Services/Upgrades link within the Hepsia Control Panel and it'll be available within a minute. We have a variety of help articles and instructional videos regarding the use of SSH commands to handle your account and an entire list of the commands which you can execute along with a number of examples to offer you a better perception of what you can do. If SSH is active, you will also be able to create an SFTP connection to the account and to upload files safely through any FTP application that supports the feature.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers

The VPS server packages that we offer feature SSH access by default, not as an additional upgrade or a function which you need to activate. As soon as your new server is prepared, you will be able to connect and start working on your content using the login details that you've entered through the order process. A copy of the SSH credentials will be sent to you via e mail too. Since your VPS will be isolated from the other ones on the physical web server, there aren't any limitations as to what you can or cannot do using SSH. You can download, install and manage any piece of software that'll run on a Linux hosting server, reboot your entire server or only a specific software component, and work with files, folders and databases with no restrictions. All you will require for this is a console or an SSH client on your end.
