A subdomain is a part of a web address that's under the main domain, for instance name.example.com. Technically, even in www.example.com the "www" element is a subdomain since the fully qualified domain name is just "example.com". Each subdomain can have its own site and records and can also be hosted with a different provider if you need to use some feature that's not provided by your current service provider. An illustration for using a subdomain is if you have a company website as well as an online store under a subdomain where clients can buy your products. Additionally, you can have a forum in which they can discuss the products and by employing subdomains as an alternative to subfolders you'll avoid any probability of all sites going down when you perform maintenance, or update one of the website scripts. Keeping your websites separated is more secure in case there is a script security breach.

Subdomains in Cloud Hosting

Our cloud hosting plans will permit you to create numerous subdomains for any domain hosted in your account without any problem. If the main domain name is added, it takes two mouse clicks to create a subdomain and choose what folder it's going to open (if different from the default one), create unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and more. All subdomains will be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for convenient access and administration. By right-clicking on any of them and by using quick access buttons you can see the error logs, visitor statistics or site files for that particular subdomain. We have not set a restriction for the total amount of subdomains you can create with any one of our plans, so you can have as many as you want.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Servers

Through our semi-dedicated server plans, you will be able to create an unlimited amount of subdomains for any one of the domains which you add as hosted in the account. It's going to take a few clicks to create a new subdomain and in the process you're going to be able to to add unique error pages for it, select if it will use a shared or a dedicated IP address, change the default folder that it will access or activate FrontPage Extensions. All subdomains you've got in the account are going to be grouped under their root domain from a to z and you'll be able to see and handle all of them without difficulty. Via instant access buttons and right-click menus you'll be able to jump to the site files within the File Manager area or check logs, visitor stats and other information about any of your subdomains.
